Life has been interesting lately.

The last couple of weeks have been pretty interesting to say the least. Some of it has been good news and some not so good. Let’s start off with the bad so that we can end off with a positive note.

We found out that my Dad has to have quadruple bypass surgery on the 18th. As a matter of fact I am writing this post while on my third and last flight home to Canada. The news came as a huge shock as my Pops is not over weight, not a smoker or drinker and seemed to be in good health. I guess this is one of those situations where you just have to say “poop happens”. If you ask me I think he just missed me soooo much that it made his heart sick. Can you blame the guy???? I am the coolest daughter in the whole wide world ( well at least that is what I tell myself) .

This is my favorite picture of my Daddy and I

There was no question as to whether I would fly home to be with my family. The only real question was what to do with Jennie B. Goode Collars while I am out of the country for two weeks. Have no fear dedicated Jennie B. Goode fans, the shop is staying open and all of my supplies are comfortably riding in the cargo hold of the plane. My Momma has a good sewing machine so I figured there was no reason not to bring the show on the road.

Now that we got the bad news out of the way let’s move on to the fun and exciting news. Most of my Facebook fans have already heard me go on and on about this but hey, stuff like this doesn’t happen every day. I will start at the beginning. My husband is a HUGE Howard Stern fan and as some of you may know Howard and his wife Beth have a bulldog named Bianca. My hubby had been asking me to make a collar for Bianca and send it to the Howard Stern show. After much pressure I made one and sent it off to the show with a little note and a fortune cookie cat nip toy for their cat, Apple.

Time went by and I never really thought much of it until I went to the mailbox one day and low and behold there was an envelope addressed to me from Beth Stern. Inside were two hand written notes .To say that I was excited is an understatement. My husband was even more excited than me.This of course made more than my day. I had heard that Beth was a sweet girl but I was really surprised that she took the time to write me a thank you note. It really meant a lot to me.

Now the story does not end here but it would have if not for one of my Facebook friends who runs a shop called Lil Yorkie Fru Fru .I woke up one morning last week to a message on my page saying “I think Beth Stern’s dog is wearing your collar on the Today Show”. I went into frenzy mode as the show was already over and I was dying to see if it really was my collar. I eventually found it on You Tube.

Sure enough, Bianca was wearing my Sprinkled Chocolate dog collar! I jumped around and squealed like a little girl for a good ten minutes. I am pretty sure that my Hubby was squealing inside too. I hate to be one of those star struck people but it is pretty cool to think that Howard and Beth Stern’s dog is wearing something I made.

Beth has written a book filled with dog care tips called Oh My Dog so she has been on a press tour promoting it. After seeing that she had Bianca with her on the Today show we had been keeping our eyes peeled for more appearances . Well surprise surprise!!!!! Guess who is wearing the collar again and this time on Regis and Kelly.

Not only was I thrilled to see Bianca wearing the collar again but the segment was hilarious. You have to love the dog that uses the set as its restroom. Too funny.

So all in all I think it is safe to say that Beth really likes the collar. There are no words that can describe how great I feel about my business when someone who can afford the best of the best chose to have their dog wear my collar on TV. I am so thankful for all of the love and support I have had since I decided to start Jennie B. Goode Collars and I appreciate every single one of you!

One more hour until we land ,and even though I already miss my husband and Miss Sophia, I can’t wait to see my family.

  1. We love you, too, Jennie - and you deserve all the best the world has to offer. In the short time I have known you I have come to adore you. You are kind, sweet, thoughtful, funny, smart, beautiful inside and out... oh, I could go on and on. Bottom line, wonderful people deserve wonderful. :)

Your Dad will be in my thoughts. I trust all will be well and his surgery and recovery will be as smooth as Bernice's big spotted belly. :)

    XOXO

  3. The bit about Bianca and her new fancy-shmancy collar is awesome. I'm so excited for you! That's quite a testament to your craftsmanship that a celebrity would show off your goods on TV.

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. I have a friend who's Father was just in the same boat. A couple months later and he's good as new. I wish your family luck and hope all goes well!
