Alter Ego

An alter ego (Latin, "the other I") is a second self, a second personality or persona within a person, who is often oblivious to the persona's actions. It was coined in the early nineteenth century when dissociative identity disorder was first described by psychologists.[1] A person with an alter ego is said to lead a double life.

If I had an alter ego , this would be it.I have always been obsessed with retro pin up girls and tattoos. If tattoos were erasable, I would spend at least one day a week covered in them and dressed up Rockabilly style. Well let me clarify. When I say covered, I do not mean covered like that tattooed freak, Jesse James had an affair with. I draw the line when it comes to inking the face and one may want to be careful as to the message that their tattoos are giving off.

Tattoos are a hate or love kind of thing and let’s just say that neither my hubby nor my parents are big fans. Good thing I never asked any of their permission before I got mine. With that said I guess that probably rules out me getting anymore anytime soon so I guess I will just have to live vicariously through others. Thank goodness for the internet and Kat Von D’s show on A&E.

Of course I could not resist finding some tattoo themed Etsy items.

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie Recipe

There are two things that I obsess about in life , Sophia and food. Now Sophia’s only down side is her draining our bank account with her oh so many health issues, but the food obsession has oh so many other drawbacks. Living in the Charleston area creates a whole new problem. There are some of the most delightfully , delicious restaurants to eat at and very few of them have light options on the menu and if they do, how can one pass up crab cakes, hush puppies, friend oysters etc. They even fry up pickles around here. Not to mention my absolute favorite southern dessert, coconut cake! It can be hard to resist all of these temptations so the Hubby and I have been trying to eat healthier MOST of the time. It has actually been fun trying out some new health wise recipes. I love sweets so that has been a bit of a challenge but I did find this recipe for pumpkin pie smoothies and I thought I would share it with you.

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

½ Cup Canned Pumpkin(not pie filling)

¾ Cup Vanilla Low Fat Yogurt

½ Cup Skim Milk

5 Ice Cubes

Couple of sprinkles of Pumpkin Pie Spice ( to taste)

½ Tablespoon of Splenda ( if you choose)

Crush ice in blender and then add remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth.

I hope you enjoy and while you are here check out these great pumpkin items I found on Etsy

Orange & Chocolate Mmmmm Mmmm Good!!

We just got home from a weekend out of town visiting family and no matter how comfortable your accommodations are while away , it always feels so good to be home.. The pets are fed and the house is filled with the delicious scent of a Pink Sugar Soy Tart from The Tempting Tart . Now if only the bags would unpack themselves everything would be fab.

All in all it was a great weekend. My niece Morgan is finally starting to feel a little better and with fingers crossed will be out of the hospital sometime this week. The Hubby got to play some golf and I got ice cream!!!!! It really is sad how the little things in life bring me such joy. Now this wasn’t just any old ice cream. This was farm fresh, chocolate orange ice cream. It tasted exactly like the Terry’s Milk Chocolate Orange that you can occasionally find at the grocery store. Thank goodness it is four hours away or I may have a new problem.

Now I am fully aware that this flavor may not be for everyone ( even though it was beyond delish), so I figured I would find you some orange and chocolate in other forms.

Meow

I have never come across a dog that is more demanding and high maintenance than Miss Sophia. Add a visiting puppy to the mix and my hands are full. In the midst of this doggy world is my cat, the divine Miss Bailey. I have had Bailey for thirteen years so she has been a huge part of my life. She is a special needs cat as she has diabetes which requires two insulin shots a day and is missing most of her teeth. Watching her try to eat a meal always makes for a good chuckle. She is as sweet as can be so of course when I relocated to the USA, I had to bring her with me.

If bailey could slap me in my face I think she would. Let’s just say she was not too happy when we brought Sophia home and then when we walked in the door with Scout, she wondered what more could she endure. Sophia likes to try to play with Bailey in a not so delicate way. This does not go over very well. Bailey is a saucy gal and she does not tolerate being contaminated with dog cooties. She has become the master of cat boxing between fighting off Sophia the beast and the ever so eager Scout. The three of them keep me on my toes all day long but I love it!

So to honor the Divine Bailey I searched out some great cat items on Etsy to share with you all.

Our Little Visitor

While we were up in Raleigh visiting family this past weekend, we picked up Scout. Scout is my niece Morgan’s puppy. We will be looking after the sweet Mr. Scout until his mommy gets better.

Some of you may already know that Morgan was recently diagnosed with stage four colon cancer at the young age of 22. To say that Morgan is a great girl is a huge understatement!  Even though she is over ten years younger than I am, I have always admired and looked up to her. Last year she graduated cum laude and started graduate school shortly after. She has an amazing group of friends and a family that loves and adores her.

Morgan’s favorite color is purple so I made a collar in her honor with the proceeds going to
We have already raised $130.00

These two are the best of friends already.
