Happy National Dog Day!

It is the Human Condition to love.
It is Love that Changes the Human Condition.
It is the Love of one Human that can Change a Nation.
It is that Love which empowers one Nation, to save man's best friend.
~ Colleen Paige

National Dog Day is celebrated August 26th annually and serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, and acknowledges family dogs and dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day - for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for a child who is disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and pulling victims of tragedy from wreckage.

Pretty much everyday in our house is National Dog Day because Miss Sophia just happens to demand it. To step it up a notch today, I think she deserves a nice bowl of yogurt with some nice plump blueberries. And of course to honor the other great dogs out there, we will pick a shelter or rescue to make a donation to.

How will you be celebrating National Dog Day?

  1. My Missy thinks this a wonderful idea which we should adopt also!
We sponsor a kennel at the rescue from which she came, so that some other dog gets to be saved, the way she was :)
here's her story on the shelter's website, under Happy Endings.

  2. Missy is adorable and what a great story :)
